Hazel Evans

"Art is my life, my air, my soul, as is the expression of my heart."

"What goes on inside, is a reflection of what goes on outside and what goes on outside, moves me on the inside. I am in constant relationship with this beautiful life dance".

Hazel is inspired by the play between the inner and outer landscapes of the body, mind and soul. As a multi-disciplinary artist she uses illustration, writing, performance and her voice to interpret multidimensional landscapes taking the spectator on a journey, with an invitation to meet a part of themselves.

Recently Hazel has taken time out from a busy schedule of producing art projects in order to gain more clarity in her work going forward. She is currently writing and illustrating two books based on her own process led art projects and planning new projects.

Following the deepening of her experiential understandings and creating art that comes as expressions reflecting inner and outer landscapes, Hazel has realised the importance of working with women and self empowerment. She now incorporates this into her creative practice and shares in workshops.

Mentoring and Awards

Hazel obtained a Masters Degree at The Arts University Bournemouth AUB which allowed her to deepen and challenge her artistic practice into blurring the edges between illustration and contemporary performance. Hazel also guest tutors at The Arts University Bournemouth.

Hazel has collaborated with and mentored students from The Arts University Bournemouth winning awards in 2012 'The Wardrobe Post Office'. A collaboration with Leoni Bullcock who also won the student the University Dean's Prize. This piece also won Best Model at Free Range London 2012. In 2013 'The Bedside Puppet Table' with Sam Berrows won Best Laser Cut Model at New Blades London 2013.
